A Walk Through Jordyn's Life

Growing Up

Jordyn grew up in Cloquet, MN, and graduated from Cloquet High School in 2023. Her family consists of her dad, mom, older brother, and herself. Her dad has been an English teacher at Duluth East High School for approximately twenty-five years, and her mom is a claims supervisor at United Healthcare. Her brother, 17 months older than her, attends Riverland Community College, where he plays baseball. Her parents are some of her most significant role models, having taught her nearly everything she knows about life and shaping her into who she is today.

Jordyn played varsity softball throughout high school, reflecting her family's intense love of sports, especially for baseball and softball. She remembers spending every summer traveling for her brother's or her games. In eighth grade, she was pulled up to the varsity high school team, and her team advanced to the MSHSL state tournament. During the rest of high school, she mainly played first base and occasionally pitched when needed. In her senior year, she was named a captain and helped lead her team to success.

In addition to softball, she worked at the Miller Hill Mall and participated in various extracurricular activities. These included serving as president of the Senior Executive Board, being part of the Link Crew (first-year orientation), acting as Yearbook Editor, and engaging in the Junior Executive Board, Student Council, Lutheran Youth Organization, and National Honor Society. These experiences were precious and deeply meaningful to her.

Her Next Steps

After graduating from high school, she started her college journey. In her first semester, she attended the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. While she cherished the experiences and valuable connections there, she eventually realized that Minneapolis wasn't where she felt at home. She then decided to return to Northern Minnesota, where she has always felt a sense of belonging.

Jordyn transferred to Labovitz and quickly fell in love with Duluth all over again. She joined organizations, including her sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma. Jordyn had never considered joining a sorority, but as she completed her first two weeks at her new school, she felt disconnected from her peers and wanted to act. Discovering Phi Sigma Sigma completely transformed Jordyn's college experience. The sorority's core values of lifelong learning, inclusiveness, and leadership through service align perfectly with her values, making her feel truly at home. Their "Aim High" motto drives each member to strive for excellence. Additionally, their philanthropy focuses on school and college readiness, with active volunteer efforts in local Duluth Title I schools.

In Fall 2024, Jordyn intends to apply for the Public Relations position on the executive council. In this role, she will manage her sorority's social media accounts and oversee how they present themselves to the public, leveraging her skills to enhance the organization's image and outreach.

In Her Heart

Jordyn has a genuine passion for personal connections. She enjoys bringing laughter to others and dedicates herself to understanding and listening to different viewpoints to ensure everyone feels valued and appreciated.

Art is another passion of hers. In her spare time, she enjoys watercolor painting and photography. She has been in love with photography since the young age of fifteen. Over the years, she has captured various moments, from sporting events to senior photos, wedding receptions, baby showers, and cap and gown graduation photos. She loves collaborating with individuals to bring their artistic visions to life.

Beyond art, Jordyn enjoys being outside. Growing up, she and her family were constantly engaged in outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, hiking, and sitting around the fire together. This love for nature is a significant factor in her decision to remain in Duluth, as she adores being surrounded by wildlife.
